CCTV for Home in Karachi — Complete Residential Security

The decision to install home security is often made only after an incident has already taken place in the neighborhood. However, a proper home CCTV plan is not simply a matter of 'putting up two cameras' — homes in Karachi have three common entry routes for intruders: the main gate, the roof/staircase, and the rear boundary wall. If any one of these three vulnerable points is left uncovered, your entire security system remains incomplete.

In our home CCTV setups, we also prioritize family privacy above all else. We never direct cameras toward bedrooms or bathrooms; we focus strictly on entry points, common corridors, and the exterior perimeter. Furthermore, we install the DVR or NVR in an easily accessible yet discreet location hidden from plain view — because during a break-in, intruders often attempt to steal the recording unit first to destroy any evidence.

For households with children and elderly family members, we frequently recommend two-way audio cameras as well, enabling you to speak directly with anyone standing at the gate from your office desk or conveniently call out to your children at home.

Camera Placement Plan — Point By Point

Home / Residential CCTV installation Karachi

Camera 1 — Main Gate

Captures the face of anyone entering through the gate at eye level, while keeping a clear view of the street within the frame.

Camera 2 — Driveway / Parking

Monitors cars, motorcycles, and the area outside the gate at an angle sharp enough for clear license plate recognition.

Camera 3 — Roof & Staircase

The most commonly neglected entry point in Karachi homes; monitors the roof access door, parapet, and overhead water tank area.

Camera 4 — Back Door / Side Passage

Secures servant quarters, the kitchen back door, and side alleyways where unauthorized entry is easiest.

Camera 5 — Main Door / Lounge Entry

Indoor dome camera covering the internal pathway into the living area positioned at a privacy-safe viewing angle.

Camera 6 — Boundary Wall Corner

For larger plots, a wide-angle corner bullet camera providing comprehensive coverage across the entire perimeter boundary line.

Common Mistakes People Make

Mounting cameras too high

A camera mounted higher than 12 feet only captures the top of a person's head rather than their face. We install cameras at 8 to 9 feet for clear facial identification.

Keeping the DVR out in the open

If the recorder is stolen during a burglary, your footage is gone too. Installing the unit in an indoor, locked, and well-ventilated enclosure is essential.

Using cheap aluminum cabling

Using copper-clad aluminum (CCA) cable instead of pure copper causes signal loss within 6 months, resulting in blurry, degraded video feeds.

Underestimating recording backup

Using a small hard drive with multiple cameras provides only 5 to 7 days of footage; we always configure home systems targeting at least 20+ days of retention.

Home / Residential — Frequently Asked Questions

How many CCTV cameras do I need for my home in Karachi?+

For a typical 120 to 240 sq yd home in Karachi, 4 cameras are generally sufficient: covering the main gate, driveway, roof, and back door. For larger bungalows over 400 sq yds, a 6 to 8 camera setup provides much better perimeter coverage.

Do CCTV cameras significantly increase electricity bills?+

Not at all. A complete 4-camera setup with a DVR consumes very little electricity, roughly equivalent to running a single energy-saver light bulb continuously.

Is it safe and appropriate to install CCTV cameras inside the house?+

Indoor cameras are fine for entryways, foyers, and main lounges. However, we strictly avoid installing cameras in bedrooms and bathrooms as a matter of standard company policy to protect your family's privacy.
